About the Role:

The EHS Engineer at Innophos plays a critical role in advancing all aspects of the site's Environmental and Safety programs and initiatives. This position functions as a primary technical resource for EHS and operational excellence within the EHS Department at our Nashville, TN site.

This role is a support position, working under the direction of the site EHS Manager. The EHS Engineer will provide EHS direction, leadership, and training to ensure continuous improvement in EHS performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supportive role providing EHS direction, leadership, and training to ensure continuous improvement in EHS performance
  • Contribute to and support compliance programs, procedures, and policies and acting as a liaison with regulatory agencies when necessary
  • Support implementation and compliance for all environmental programs including:
    • Maintaining all site environmental permits (including air, stormwater, and wastewater) and conducting required periodic program inspections
    • Responsible for recordkeeping requirements including coordination and submittal of regulatory reports (including annual air emission reports, monthly wastewater discharge reports, semiannual industrial landfill inspection reports, annual EPCRA Tier II and TRI reports, hazardous waste biennial reports), and generating waste profiles and manifests
    • Support all EHS programs, including developing, writing, implementing, auditing, inspections, and maintaining policies and procedures in compliance with company, local, state, and federal rules, and regulations
    • Deliver training sessions to site employees, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations, site permits, and procedures, while revising procedures and training programs when required
    • Provide EHS training to employees including work site safety practices, fire prevention, PPE requirements, Environmental matters and other topics as needed
    • Perform inspections for potential EHS risks, determines corrective or preventive measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented
    • Major contributor during Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigation of incidents, injuries, and near misses and assists with driving action items to closure
    • Assist with management of Workers Compensation, insurance, or other related claims
    • Maintain required safety and/or environmental program records, including incident investigations, inspection results, program review reports, corrective actions, training, medical surveillance
    • Prepare and submit periodic reports of safety and environmental program activity, status, and performance statistics to plant management and Corporate EHS as required
    • Manage and maintain site's HAZCOM program including SDS management and online inventory of materials and lab chemicals

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's (B.S.) degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Environmental Science or a related science or engineering degree
  • 5 or more years of EHS experience with a strong emphasis on environmental
  • Experience with Air, Water, Waste permits and supporting actions
  • Professional training and/or certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), 40 Hour HAZWOPER, etc.
  • Ability to be effective in a team-based environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Incident response involvement
  • Exceptional people skills
