Citizens Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a Staff RN - Unit Manager. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and leadership to our patients and staff.
Responsibilities- Provide direct quality patient care based on the plan of care and exercise judgment in delegating aspects of patient care to licensed and unlicensed staff members.
- Participate in professional development of self and staff to enhance patient-focused nursing practice.
- Perform timely, comprehensive assessments using appropriate techniques for data collection, analysis, interpretation, and documentation.
- Develop, implement, document, and evaluate the plan of care in collaboration with other team members.
- Actively participate in unit's performance improvement initiatives.
- Perform nursing interventions with emphasis on patient rights, informed consent, patient confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, adaptation of care according to age, cultural, and ethical considerations.
- Administer medication according to facility standards and demonstrate safe and accurate administration of medication/control substances.
- Observe and report patient progress and changes in patient status to the physician and document in the medical record.
- Screen for and communicate discharge needs on a regular basis in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team members.
- Accurately record vital signs, intake, and output and other physical observations on the appropriate forms.
- Evaluate the need for and consistently provide and document education provided to the patient and/or patient caregivers.
- Evaluate with the physician or independent allied health professional the need to initiate restraints, monitors use of restraints, and evaluates on a regular basis according to hospital policy the ability to discontinue restraints.
- Monitor appropriate pain management and performs interventions.
- Perform patient care activities; assisting with ADLs, mobilization of patients, drain, dressing, wound care, associated therapeutic devices, and nutritional needs.
- Obtain physician orders to meet the needs of the patient.
- Develop and maintain proficiency in the use of equipment and facilitates maintenance of equipment by completing maintenance requests.
- Demonstrate 'Service Excellence Initiatives' by presenting a positive first impression; anticipating customer needs, and is actively involved in the role of Team Player.
- Follow universal precautions.
- Comply with Employee Health requirements for employment.
- Work in a manner that promotes safety, adhering to dress code policy.
- Know role in emergency situations and report unsafe practices to management.
- Graduate of accredited college, university, or school of nursing.
- Current license or permit to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
- CPR certification.
- NRP certification.
- Stroke Inservice annually - required for all RNs on this unit.
- Participation in inpatient obstetrics and fetal monitoring education.
- Fetal monitoring for the antepartum and intrapartum patient.
- Labor and delivery experience.
- Circulator and scrub in surgery (cesarean sections, postpartum tubal ligation, dilation and curettage).
