Aerospace Sheetmetal Technician Senior

The Sheetmetal Technician Senior plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient fabrication and installation of parts, equipment, and fabricated items on aircraft. This position requires a high level of expertise in sheetmetal processes, including forming, drilling, stamping, shaping, bending, punching, cutting, riveting, filing, and dimpling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use complex schematics, blueprints, and engineering drawings to perform sheetmetal layout, fabrication, and installation tasks.
- Mentor and train junior sheetmetal technicians, ensuring they meet quality control standards.
- Oversee projects and assess requirements to procure necessary materials and documentation.
- Operate shop equipment, such as brakes, presses, riveting equipment, shears, and hand tools, to shape and form complex angles and configurations.
- Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, using personal protective equipment as required.
- Conduct monthly 5S audits and use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign-off work.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Four (4) years of sheetmetal and/or fabrication experience.
- Experience in the aerospace industry preferred.
- Valid Driver's License required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of sheetmetal or fabrication processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
- Valid drivers license required to operate towing and other Aircraft Production Company's transportation equipment.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand proficiently the English language.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Adapts to sudden schedule changes.
- Able to use tools and equipment associated with sheetmetal work.
- Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
- Must have a good working knowledge of computers and experience working with MicroSoft Office suite.
