Job Title: Pulsed Power Engineer

SARA, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Pulsed Power Engineer to join our High Power Electromagnetics Division (HPEM) in Colorado Springs, CO. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing high-power switching technologies, pulsed forming networks, and high-voltage insulation systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop high-power switching technologies, including Marx generators, pulsed forming networks, and linear transformer drivers.
  • Develop and test high-voltage insulation systems, including compact and repetitive pulsed power systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate high-power systems into larger electromagnetic systems.
  • Conduct experiments and analyze data to optimize system performance and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and technical reports.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in pulsed power, power electronics, high-power solid-state switching, or applied electromagnetics.
  • BS or MS degree in a relevant field, such as electrical engineering, physics, or materials science.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Experience with data acquisition equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience in power electronics, pulsed power, high-power microwaves, or high-power RF.
  • Experience with FDTD EM and multiphysics simulation codes, such as COMSOL Multiphysics.
  • Experience with data processing software, including Excel, MATLAB, Python, Mathcad, and Origin.
  • Active DoD TS or DoE Q clearance.
