POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Site Supervisor and Head Teacher, the Classroom Aide plays a crucial role in assisting the Head Teacher in creating a nurturing and stimulating classroom atmosphere. The Classroom Aide supports the planning and execution of classroom activities as directed by the Teacher and is responsible for daily classroom management and program operations.

EDUCATIONAL AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma required. Must be willing to pursue Family Service Worker certification upon hire.
  • Other qualifications include:
    - CDA credential or a state-awarded certificate that meets or exceeds CDA requirements OR
  • - An Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited institution
    OR
  • - Enrollment in a program leading to an Associate or Bachelor's degree
    OR
  • - Enrollment in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of hire.

EXPERIENCE

  • Less than six months of relevant experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Preferred: One year of experience in a childcare setting (home or center-based).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required upon hire.
  • PATCH registry must reflect qualifications as Classroom Aide and/or Teacher.

ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • A valid Hawaii driver's license and a clear driving record are required, along with the use of a personal vehicle for client transportation as needed.
  • This position is subject to a criminal background check, and continued employment is contingent upon a clear record.
