Apprentice Mechanic

Primary Objective
The Apprentice Mechanic will operate under the supervision of a Senior Mechanic I or an Equipment Mechanic I, gaining hands-on experience to master the comprehensive responsibilities of a Mechanic through a structured on-the-job training program. This role involves executing technical tasks related to the upkeep and repair of both light and heavy-duty equipment powered by gasoline and diesel. As the trainee develops their skills, they will be expected to demonstrate greater independence in assessing repair techniques as their responsibilities expand.
Key Responsibilities
- Prioritize Health & Safety by adhering to established policies and procedures, ensuring safe practices at all times.
- Assist in conducting routine maintenance and repairs on equipment.
- Be open to training in basic troubleshooting of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Be willing to learn mig welding techniques for both steel and aluminum.
- Operate machinery to facilitate general repairs and installations.
- Complete assigned tasks in accordance with all safety protocols, guidelines, and monitoring requirements.

Qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience: Basic understanding and experience with oil changes and the use of a grease gun are necessary.
Skills and Competencies: This role is safety-sensitive. The ability to maintain alertness and operate safely is crucial. General knowledge of truck preventative maintenance and proficiency with hand tools are essential. A willingness to learn and accept guidance from colleagues is expected. Regular and predictable attendance is a vital aspect of this position.
A post-offer drug screening will be mandatory.
