Job Overview

Position Summary

The Apprentice Mechanic will operate under the guidance of a Senior Mechanic I or an Equipment Mechanic I, engaging in a comprehensive on-the-job training program to master the full range of responsibilities associated with mechanical maintenance. This role involves performing technical tasks related to the upkeep and repair of both light and heavy-duty equipment powered by gasoline and diesel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize Health & Safety by adhering to established policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
  • Assist in executing routine maintenance and repair tasks on various equipment.
  • Be open to training in basic troubleshooting of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Learn and practice MIG welding techniques for both steel and aluminum.
  • Operate machinery to facilitate general repairs and installations.
  • Complete assigned tasks in accordance with all safety protocols, guidelines, and monitoring requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience: Basic understanding and experience with oil changes and the use of a grease gun are necessary.
  • Knowledge and Skills: This role is safety-sensitive, requiring a constant state of alertness and adherence to safety practices. A general understanding of truck preventative maintenance and proficiency with hand tools are essential. A willingness to learn and take direction from colleagues is expected. Regular and reliable attendance is crucial.

A post-offer drug screening will be mandatory.
