Position Summary:
We are seeking a driven and proactive Geotechnical Project Engineer to join our team. This role is based in our Pasadena, CA office and involves overseeing the planning, interpretation, organization, scheduling, and management of projects through all stages of development.
The Geotechnical Project Engineer will be responsible for:
- Establishing and monitoring project budgets.
- Managing project teams and assisting with scheduling and billing.
- Maintaining strong client relationships and having the authority to direct and oversee all project activities.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in all aspects of geotechnical engineering, including materials testing and inspections, alongside a growing proficiency in project management. Responsibilities include:
- Planning and participating in field assignments, including the observation of explorations and geotechnical instrumentation.
- Conducting inspections of geotechnical structures during construction.
- Managing geotechnical, forensic, and construction projects, collaborating with clients, design professionals, and contractors.
- Planning and supervising soil exploration, logging, and classification.
- Scheduling laboratory testing to assess soil types and engineering properties.
- Evaluating geological and seismic hazards and providing mitigation recommendations.
- Analyzing natural and reinforced slopes, as well as distressed structures.
- Providing recommendations for foundation design and earth retention systems.
- Preparing proposals, schedules, and reports to achieve project objectives while managing budgets.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical Engineering (required).
- An M.S. Degree in Geotechnical Engineering (preferred).
- A Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) designation (required).
- A Licensed Geotechnical Engineer (GE) designation (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in geotechnical consulting.
- Experience with local engineering practices and client interactions.
Skills:
The ideal candidate will have:
- A thorough understanding of project work plans, schedules, staffing, and budgets.
- The ability to interpret project plans and perform engineering calculations.
- Advanced knowledge of building systems and relevant laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
