We are seeking an Environmental Scientist 1 (NDEC Scientist) to join our Washington team. This role offers a unique opportunity for rapid professional growth and development in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with construction teams to facilitate the execution of fish-habitat enhancement projects (FHEP), specifically focused on repairing culvert barriers for migrating fish beneath US101.
- Conduct tree inventories, vegetation surveys, and read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Assist in wetland delineation, fish exclusion and identification, and contribute to the development of plans and reports.
- Work independently and as part of a team to achieve project goals and objectives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Botany, Geology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Zero to five years of professional experience, making this an ideal opportunity for entry-level candidates.
- Education or practical experience in stormwater, geology, engineering, biology, or another related field, showcasing a broad foundation for diverse environmental responsibilities.
- Ability to work outdoors during inclement weather and on uneven ground, demonstrating a hands-on approach to environmental fieldwork.
- Demonstrate a strong aptitude for fieldwork, with the majority of responsibilities involving hands-on environmental assessments and monitoring activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in wetland delineation, tree and stream evaluations, and construction monitoring.
- Possession of CESCL (stormwater qualification) and/or Certified Arborist certifications.
