ROLE SUMMARY

The Certified Culinary Specialist is primarily responsible for preparing meals that comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as our internal standards. Under the supervision of the Dietary Manager, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality food services consistently.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday, with an alternating weekend schedule.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in dietary services within a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with therapeutic meal planning.
  • Ability to prepare a diverse range of dishes in large quantities.
  • Knowledge of IDDSI dietary standards is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills and the capacity to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
  • Understanding of dietary regulations and practices relevant to healthcare facilities.
  • Leadership skills and a willingness to learn new techniques.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare nutritious and visually appealing meals according to established menus and recipes.
  • Verify the accuracy of special diet trays.
  • Coordinate dietary services with other departments.
  • Collaborate with the facility's dietitian and Certified Dietary Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards, including Infection Control and Universal Precautions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Operate in well-lit and ventilated kitchen areas conducive to cooking.
  • Engage in various physical activities including sitting, standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Communicate effectively with medical and nursing staff, as well as other department leaders.
  • Participate in ongoing educational opportunities.
