Key Responsibilities- Instruct and Facilitate Developmental Activities: Develop and implement lesson plans to encourage growth in all areas of childhood development, including social, physical, and intellectual growth.
- Build Trusting Relationships: Develop and maintain trusting relationships with children and families to ensure a successful learning environment.
- Develop and Implement Weekly Lesson Plans: Create and implement weekly lesson plans to ensure program compliance and meet the needs of our students.
- Assign Duties and Monitor Work: Assign duties to staff and monitor work to ensure a successful learning environment.
- Complete and Submit Paperwork: Complete and submit paperwork, including logs and reports, to document program compliance.
- Maintain a Safe and Healthy Learning Environment: Clean and prepare classrooms regularly to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment.
- Conduct Health Screenings: Conduct health screenings for Head Start children, including vision, hearing, mental health, and physical health.
- Plan and Conduct Parent-Teacher Conferences: Plan and conduct parent-teacher conferences to establish and assess progress toward family goals.
- Education and Experience: A Childhood Development Associate Credential (CDA) that is age-appropriate to the children being served, or a state-awarded certificate for preschool teachers that meets or exceeds the requirement for a CDA.
- Certifications and Licenses: A Food Handlers license, CPR/first aid/interrater certification, and a Fingerprint Clearance Card, Level I.
- Technical Competencies: Knowledge of the AZ Early Learning Standards, behavior management, childhood development, early childhood education, and Head Start Performance Standards.
- General Competencies: Collaboration, communication, conflict resolution, cultural competence, discretion, initiative/innovation, mentoring/training, and problem-solving skills.
This position requires regular exposure to potential physical harm, hazardous chemicals, and infectious disease. Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions may also be required.
