About the Role

D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a skilled Mortgage Loan Originator to join their Financial Services team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for promoting and providing business development, origination of loans, and relationship management with customers and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interview mortgage applicants to understand their financing options and provide guidance on loan programs that suit their needs.
  • Be accessible to buyers and individuals involved in a loan to answer questions and provide updates.
  • Maintain accurate reports and notes within the origination software and customer relationship management systems.
  • Review new leads daily and contact them to earn their business.
  • Manage the loan pipeline to ensure a smooth process for all parties involved.
  • Make presentations on loan products in sales meetings and with sales staff in builder communities.
  • Respond promptly to operations to facilitate an efficient loan process.
  • Provide necessary disclosures to loan applicants in a timely manner.
  • Conduct business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase company goodwill.
  • Work overtime and travel overnight as needed.
  • Market company products and services accurately and effectively to potential business sources.
  • Develop sales leads for mortgages in builder communities and real estate offices.
  • Provide weekend coverage in builder communities and grand opening functions.
  • Review documentation provided by borrowers, check for accuracy, and address discrepancies.
  • Be familiar with and comply with company QC policies and attend necessary meetings.
  • Provide input to management and attend production/staff meetings.
  • Assist in resolving post-closing/funding problems as needed.
  • Attend loan closings when possible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • One to two years of related experience and/or training.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
  • Licensed Mortgage Loan Originator as required by state.
  • General mortgage banking understanding, including lock procedures, program analysis, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory timelines.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email.
  • Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday and perform physical tasks as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently process and record a large volume of data.
  • Ability to act as a team player and accept constructive criticism.
  • Bilingual preferred.
