About this Role

The Brigham and Women's Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our Primary Care team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, working collaboratively with our physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care, counseling, and teaching to a select patient population.
  • Perform physical examinations and provide preventive health measures appropriate to patient needs.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate appropriate lab and diagnostic tests to assess patients' clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Arrange for appropriate plan of care and follow-up based on outcome of diagnostic, lab, and physical assessment findings.
  • Perform laboratory tests appropriate for specific patient population.
  • Order medications and write prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Record pertinent patient care findings in the medical record.
  • Set priorities for appropriate and efficient management of patient care that reflect cost-effective management of time, available human resources, supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintain interdisciplinary approach to planning and communicating patient care information by discussing patient data with appropriate physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Incorporate the concepts of health maintenance, prevention, and promotion into daily practice through patient education and counseling.
  • Demonstrate awareness of community resources and assist staff, patients, and families to effectively utilize them.
Requirements
  • Masters' (or) DNP (or) PhD Degree in Nursing required.
  • Satisfactory completion of an approved formal education program which has as its objective the preparation of professional nurses to practice as nurse practitioner.
  • Completion of a Master's or post-Masters' degree in adult or family NP program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
  • Minimum of 5 years direct Family or Pediatric Primary Care experience as an NP experience required.
  • Fluency in Spanish required.
  • Strong triage skills required.
  • Experience with a focus on In-basket work preferred.
  • Experience with telehealth/virtual visits preferred.
  • Experience with process improvement/change management preferred.
  • Demonstrated competency in providing comprehensive healthcare including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Excellent clear verbal communication skills and proficient writing skills required.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and EPIC preferred.
