We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Systems Technician to join our team at the City and County of San Francisco. As a key member of our Radio Communications Team, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of complex wireless and networked communications equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform skilled technical maintenance, testing, installation, and repair work on complex wireless and networked communications equipment.
- Supervise subordinate personnel engaged in such work and maintain records and documentation of wireless networks.
- Make contact with representatives of other city departments and outside agencies in connection with radio and communications equipment maintenance.
- Evaluate performance of subordinates and inspect maintenance and repair work in the field to assure compliance with instructions and departmental methods and procedures.
- Consult with representatives of other city departments regarding maintenance issues of communication systems and respond to public complaints of radio interference to electronic consumer products.
- Analyze equipment for malfunctions and correct most complex maintenance problems.
- Ensure that Federal Communications Commission rules and regulations are adhered to in the installation, maintenance, and repair of radio and communication equipment.
- Write specifications for communications equipment and enforce codes for safe practices.
- 6 years of journey level electronics technician experience, including the installation, repair, and maintenance of a broad range of electronic communications systems and equipment.
- Possession of a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) General-Class Radio-Telephone Operator's License or an APCO Certificate of Competency.
- Valid driver's license.
- 36 months of Complex Trunked Radio Systems Management Experience.
