About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Allison Transmission in Indianapolis, IN. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing optimal manufacturing processes and methods to meet product specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement manufacturing systems with a focus on continuous improvement related to quality and throughput capability of production equipment.
  • Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes.
  • Study product requirements and research, design, modify, and test manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  • Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Occasional instruction, training, and assignment of work to a small group of employees.
  • Analyze process elements for improved manufacturing capability.
  • Analyze equipment deficiencies for manufacturing improvements.
  • Provide technical support for specific plant operations.
  • Implement and actively support the plant and corporate safety policies and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience.
  • High level of analytical ability to solve complex problems.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of tooling, manufacturing process, and manufacturing equipment required.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
  • Understanding of machine and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in part processing using various grinding, turning, machining center equipment.
  • CNC programming experience with a thorough knowledge of machine control systems.
  • Project management experience with regard to machine procurement, cost analysis, and process validation.
  • Direct manufacturing experience with at least one of the following component groups: rotating and reciprocating components, gears, and/or prismatic parts.
