Job Overview

Salary: $16.00 per hour

AIMED Human Services is dedicated to providing exceptional assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our mission, since 1998, has been to meet the personal needs of individuals and families with integrity and to promote independence.

Available Shifts:

  • Monday to Friday (6:00 AM - 2:00 PM) Supervisors only
  • Monday to Friday (2:00 PM - 10:00 PM)
  • Overnight (10:00 PM - 6:00 AM)
  • Weekend Blocks

Key Responsibilities:

The Community Living Support Specialist is tasked with ensuring a secure, nurturing, and therapeutic environment that encourages personal growth and rehabilitation. This role is essential in providing tailored behavioral support to help individuals achieve greater independence.

Primary Duties Include:

  1. Assist and guide individuals in preparing for daily activities, promoting good hygiene and appropriate behavior.
  2. Support the Residential Supervisor in evaluating each individual's capabilities and needs for independent living, contributing to the development of Individual Support Plans (ISPs).
  3. Teach budgeting skills to enhance financial independence.
  4. Instruct on self-medication practices in compliance with regulations, and supervise medication administration when necessary.
  5. Facilitate daily chores and household responsibilities.
  6. Assist individuals with grocery shopping, meal planning, and preparation.
  7. Conduct one-on-one meetings to address individual concerns.
  8. Encourage peer interaction through house meetings and informal discussions.
  9. Manage emergency situations effectively, utilizing crisis intervention techniques as needed.
  10. Support individuals in using public transportation and provide transport to appointments when required.
  11. Maintain accurate records, including data collection and daily logs, and ensure smooth communication between shifts.
  12. Promote basic nutrition and assist individuals in accessing community resources for nutritional counseling.
  13. Foster relationship-building skills among individuals.
  14. Encourage community integration by assisting individuals in joining local organizations.
  15. Teach problem-solving skills and conflict resolution techniques.
  16. Provide opportunities for leisure activities that promote self-initiative.
  17. Support individuals in developing self-management skills related to health and behavior.
  18. Educate individuals on basic first aid, fire safety, and emergency preparedness.
  19. Empower individuals to make choices and decisions regarding their daily lives and future goals.
  20. Assist in creating natural support systems for individuals.
  21. Encourage self-esteem and personal empowerment.
  22. Adhere to individual treatment plans consistently.
  23. Conduct and document monthly fire drills as per regulations.
  24. Report any incidents of abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities.
  25. Coordinate with maintenance personnel and inspectors as needed.
  26. Utilize on-call and crisis teams when necessary.
  27. Participate in mandatory training sessions and team meetings.
  28. Implement safety regulations as required.
  29. Perform physical tasks such as lifting and snow removal.
  30. Complete additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. A high school diploma and at least one year of experience in human services are required. Training is available for less experienced candidates.
  2. Certification in medication administration is necessary.
  3. Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
  4. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish boundaries.
  6. Dependability and adaptability are essential.
  7. Ability to reflect on and articulate insights.
  8. A valid driver's license and the ability to operate a van are required.
  9. Training in crisis intervention techniques is preferred.
  10. CPR, First Aid, and AED certification are required.
  11. Must pass background checks as mandated by law.
