Position Overview:
The Penn Medicine Princeton Health Laboratory Department is actively seeking a full-time Clinical Laboratory Technician to join our team. This role involves working the day shift within the Microbiology & Infectious Disease Testing sections.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Execute and interpret both basic and advanced technical procedures on clinical specimens while ensuring compliance with quality control standards.

2. Maintain laboratory equipment, reagents, and supplies to guarantee the precision and reliability of testing processes. Conduct preventive maintenance and performance evaluations on departmental instruments.

3. Identify issues, devise solutions, and address problems or escalate them to the appropriate personnel. Collaborate with staff to assist in resolving challenges.

4. Provide training and guidance to fellow team members, including onboarding new staff and students.

5. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures within the laboratory environment, including the use of personal protective equipment.

6. Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary hospital staff, including medical and nursing personnel, regarding test results, technical inquiries, and logistical matters under the supervision of the section leader.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, or laboratory science/medical technology science is required.

• Prior experience in a microbiology laboratory is essential.

• Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by ASCP or NCA, or previously qualified under 42CFR /14/90 is mandatory. Non-US education must be evaluated and certified according to US standards.

• If not ASCP certified, candidates must be eligible to take the exam within six months of hire.

• M(ASCP) certification is required.

• Proven experience with complex automated instrumentation is necessary.

• Ability to operate under moderate pressure and in emergency situations, particularly concerning STAT/RUSH orders.
