POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is designated for individuals who primarily function as tellers while also being cross-trained in new account services. The main responsibility is to support the teller line, with occasional duties in the new accounts area. Individuals in this position provide a range of teller and new account services, including processing deposits, withdrawals, payments, welcoming customers, and managing account openings and maintenance. They operate various office equipment and assess customer needs, promoting services that align with the customers' best interests. Appropriate referrals to other business units for both traditional and innovative banking products and services are made as necessary. Superior customer service is a key focus, ensuring that all interactions adhere to established bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate daily deposit transactions, including handling deposits, withdrawals, holds, loan payments, and other related activities.
- Maintain cash drawer within prescribed limits and manage cash transactions with accuracy.
- Verify and balance assigned cash drawer on a daily basis, maintaining records of cash discrepancies.
- Prepare necessary documentation to comply with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements.
- Develop a thorough understanding of compliance and regulatory issues related to teller and customer service operations.
- Implement security procedures and understand protocols in case of emergencies.
- Maintain a tidy and organized workspace, ensuring the security of cash and confidential records.
- Exhibit exemplary customer service skills, actively listening to customers and resolving issues with professionalism.
- Open new accounts and process account maintenance requests efficiently.
- Identify and pursue sales opportunities, cross-selling bank products and services to meet customer needs.
- Engage in sales initiatives to attract new customers.
- Organize daily tasks to manage customer flow and fulfill banking processing requirements.
- Stay informed about all bank products and services.
- Participate in all required training sessions.
Assist colleagues in the department as needed. Responsibilities may include vault and ATM balancing, new account duties, and other assigned tasks.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; high school seniors in a Cooperative Education Program are also considered.
- Prior experience in banking is advantageous.
- Experience in cash handling and customer service is preferred.
- Basic math skills are essential.
- Proficiency in PC and typing skills is required.
- Attention to detail is crucial.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance is necessary.
- Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written, are required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with customers and colleagues are essential.
- Good judgment and the ability to handle confidential information are necessary.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately, analyze information, and make informed decisions.
- Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
- Ability to operate teller and office equipment, including computers and various office machines.
- Capability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in different formats.
