Become part of our dedicated Retail Team at The Salvation Army and help us serve and impact our local community. Our Long Beach Thrift Store supports the Adult Rehabilitation Program and offers a positive shopping and donor experience.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Donation Attendant to join our team. As a Donation Attendant, you will be responsible for maintaining and cleaning the donation area, assisting donors, and separating and sorting donated materials.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and clean the donation area, including the trailer and surrounding space
  • Assist donors in receiving donated items and provide receipts
  • Maintain all reports and paperwork as instructed by the supervisor
  • Separate and sort donated materials into the proper containers
  • Assist with loading donations onto trucks as needed
  • Inform the supervisor of needed items prior to running out
  • Secure and lock the donation trailer at the end of each shift
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Must pass a background check, including a criminal history and sex offender registry check
  • Ability to read and write, and understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, fellow employees, customers, and donors
Physical Demands

The ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects, and move product up to 75lbs.

Work Schedule

Our stores operate 7 days a week. Work schedules are determined by management and employees must be flexible to ensure adequate store coverage. Full-time associates may be scheduled to work any full-time shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
