About the Position

VHB's Providence, RI office is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Natural Science group in a hybrid capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct natural resource surveys, including wetland delineations, wildlife habitat evaluations, and rare species surveys.
  • Prepare studies and technical reports.
  • Develop federal, state, and local permit applications.
  • Prepare environmental impact statements and assessments, planning and zoning studies, and wetland permit applications.
  • Design studies to support clients in making informed environmental decisions.
  • Establish and track project milestones and business goals.
  • Maintain ongoing dialogue with clients to keep them informed of project status and changes.
Requirements
  • BS in Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, or a related field; MS preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional environmental consulting experience.
  • Ability to work in physically challenging outdoor situations and travel to project sites in New England.
  • Experience in plant species identification and soil characterization in the northeast.
  • Ability to identify and describe wildlife, habitats, and ecological communities.
  • Knowledge of state and federal wetland regulations, land use environmental regulations, and environmental permitting.
