Heavy Truck Mechanic Job Description

As a Heavy Truck Mechanic at Mid-Atlantic Waste Systems, you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and repair of our fleet of heavy trucks. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for working with heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and repair heavy trucks, including hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, and hoses.
  • Perform preventative maintenance repairs, such as replacing or rotating tires and completing vehicle component lubrication and replacement.
  • Use Mid-Atlantic Waste Systems diagnostic equipment to research and complete repairs.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of work performed.
  • Partner with the service manager to learn new skills and stay up-to-date with the latest technologies.

Requirements:
  • 2 years' experience with hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, and hoses.
  • 2 years' MIG and stick welding experience.
  • 2 years' automotive electrical experience.
  • 2 years' diesel engine repair experience (preferred).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to frequently kneel, bend, squat, push, pull, and reach.
  • Ability to lift and move more than 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Must pass a DOT physical, including drug screening.
