Job Summary

An Electrical Systems Specialist is needed to perform a variety of skilled duties operating and maintaining electrical power distribution systems and associated equipment with a voltage above 480 volts and below 23,000 volts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, operate, and maintain electrical power distribution systems and associated equipment.
  • Install and maintain transformers, switchgears, and emergency standby generators.
  • Repair and replace underground cables.
  • Identify and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Install, test, and maintain electrical machinery, devices, and associated equipment.
  • Operate and maintain a medium voltage electrical substation.
  • Install, maintain, and test truck height-sensing equipment.
  • Install and maintain highway and sign lighting over limited access highways.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of the principles and theories of electricity associated with medium voltage equipment.
  • Knowledge of the maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical devices and equipment.
  • Knowledge of the methods, practices, and materials of the electrical trade.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards, required safety precautions, and legal requirements involved with electrical work.
  • Ability to read and interpret codes, regulations, and standards applicable to electrical work.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical measuring devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetical calculations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years of journey-level experience in the electrical trade.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Work Environment

This position is located on the California campus of Pennsylvania Western University.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7am-3pm.
