We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Medical Surgical Float Team at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic. This is a full-time night shift position, working 12-hour shifts from 7pm to 7am, with a 72-hour biweekly pay period and every other weekend rotation.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive care to patients by applying the nursing process in an organized and systematic manner, adhering to hospital policy.
- Communicate proactively with the healthcare team, sharing patient progress, discharge plans, and other relevant information.
- Complete admissions according to policy, utilizing a multi-system approach for assessment and reassessment.
- Document assessment, plan, interventions, and outcomes according to policy, interpreting and utilizing clinical data in the plan of care.
- Perform accurate and thorough nursing physical assessments and document thoroughly.
- Reassess patient condition per policy, recognizing and integrating patient special needs and individualizing care.
- Adhere to infection control standards specific to patient care.
- Assume accountability for managing the delivery of patient care, responsible for learning policies and nursing procedures and communicating to others.
- Participate in discharge planning, using a multi-disciplinary approach, and participate in multidisciplinary rounds.
- Assist patients and families with the grieving process and end-of-life cases as appropriate.
- Initiate IV therapy as per policy/procedure, taking into consideration vein condition, patient age, skin condition, patient positioning, and cognition.
- Provide respiratory support, including pulse oximetry, suctioning, wall and portable oxygen therapy.
- Valid nursing license in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Degree in Nursing.
- Current BCLS certification required or obtained by completion of orientation.
- ACLS certification required or obtained by completion of orientation if applicable to area of practice.
- Professional certifications preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Candidate must be organized and able to lead and manage a team.
- Demonstrate ability to use problem-solving, critical thinking, and priority-setting skills.
- Ability to perform diversified duties with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy.
- Computer skills preferred.
- Prior clinical experience preferred.
