Job Summary

Maternal and Family Health Services is seeking a dedicated Nutrition Counselor to join our team in the Wellsboro WIC location. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality nutrition education and services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and document client data to determine eligibility for WIC benefits
  • Deliver and document nutrition education, including breastfeeding promotion and support, nutrition care plans, and food package prescriptions
  • Provide referrals and follow-up services to clients as needed
  • Consult with NEC, CPA, Breastfeeding Coordinator, or Designated Breastfeeding Expert when necessary
  • Verify client identification, residency, and income eligibility
  • Conduct thorough participant assessments and document WIC risk codes
  • Explain program purposes and procedures to clients
  • Perform and record hematological and anthropometric measurements
  • Monitor and promote nutrition education, breastfeeding, and outreach activities
  • Communicate with clients via Text Magic
  • Attend regular training sessions and updates
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required; Bachelor's or associate's degree in nutrition or dietetics recommended
  • One year of experience as a Program Assistant or Breastfeeding Peer Counselor; or one year of experience in a related field
  • Good verbal communication skills and ability to articulate clearly
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Basic math skills and ability to perform operations with units involved in measuring and weighing
  • Exceptional customer service skills and client-centered service delivery
