The University Co-op is a nonprofit bookstore and the leading retailer for Longhorn merchandise. Our mission is to enhance the experiences of students, faculty, and staff at the University of Texas at Austin by providing a welcoming shopping environment and contributing to the community through various initiatives.
Position Summary
As a Sales Associate, you play a vital role in our retail operations. Reporting to the Store Director and Floor Managers, your primary focus will be delivering exceptional customer service on the sales floor. You will engage with customers and colleagues, embodying the Co-op's commitment to service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding customer service to all patrons.
- Efficiently stock merchandise on the sales floor in accordance with merchandising standards.
- Maintain the sales area by recovering the floor during each shift and assisting in other store areas as needed.
- Safeguard company assets by adhering to inventory control and loss prevention protocols.
- Exhibit integrity and promote the core values of the Co-op.
- Handle cash register operations and perform other duties related to pricing, merchandising, and visual presentation.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned based on operational needs.
Scheduling Preferences
Our sales associates work flexible hours based on store demand. We seek individuals who can start immediately and have some daytime availability during the week. While there is an immediate need for this role, there is potential for continued employment beyond the current season.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will possess at least a High School Diploma or GED. Previous retail experience, including proficiency with Point of Sale systems and customer service, is preferred. This part-time position requires flexible hours that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
The Sales Associate primarily works indoors on the sales floor, and the role involves various physical activities such as standing, walking, and using stairs. Some handling of packages and stock movement may be necessary.
