Job Summary
Oakland University is seeking a Summer Camp Staff member to support individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders at our summer camps. As a Summer Camp Staff member, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and engagement of campers with autism.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as a team with lead teachers, administrators, and practicum students to communicate and implement daily camp activities for campers with autism spectrum disorders.
- Assist with the creation and implementation of positive behavior supports for the campers.
- Initiate interactions and engage with campers in all activities.
- Keep a clean and safe camp environment at all times, following all OU protocols to keep staff and campers safe and healthy.
- Ensure general safety and adherence to all OU and OUCARES policies and procedures at all times.
Requirements
- Positive attitude and demonstrates respect towards individuals with Autism.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player with direction from supervisor.
- Dependable, punctual and professional at all times.
- Enthusiastic willingness to learn and participate fully.
- Previous experience with individuals with Autism or related experience.
- Must be comfortable using computers and have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and Google Meet platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one year experience working with individual(s) with Autism.
- CPI training preferred.
- CPR/First aid training preferred.
