At Advocate Aurora Health, we're seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Tech to join our team. As a Nuclear Medicine Tech, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radioactive materials.
Key Responsibilities:- Competently perform basic to intermediate nuclear medicine procedures, including general and cardiac exams.
- Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information and compare requisitions to physician orders to ensure exam accuracy.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and procedural adjunctive medication according to approved exam parameters.
- Perform venipuncture and placement of peripheral IV catheters for medication administration.
- Access other vascular access devices as determined by department training and need.
- Follow correct procedures for handling radioactive materials and implement ALARA measures.
- Accurately record pharmaceutical doses and maintain accurate records in accordance with regulatory agencies.
- Relay pertinent patient history information to appropriate staff and departments.
- Post-process images as directed and accurately identify and label images.
- Identify equipment performance issues and perform equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures.
- Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Nuclear Medicine Tech (N) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification (CNMT) issued by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent knowledge.
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids.
