Position Overview:
The Senior Manager of Human Resources is a pivotal leadership role that demands extensive experience in HR, exceptional leadership capabilities, and strategic foresight. In this capacity, you will cultivate strong business relationships to devise and execute HR strategies that are in harmony with the organization’s objectives. You will lead a team of HR professionals dedicated to attracting and retaining top talent, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and enhancing employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all fundamental HR processes and systems, including payroll management, HRIS implementation, labor requirements, training assessments, and strategies aimed at reducing employee turnover while enhancing the overall employee experience.
- Collaborate closely with the HR Director to develop, implement, and sustain effective business solutions that address current and future HR needs (e.g., Organizational Design, Performance Management Systems, succession planning, Health & Welfare Programs, and Employee Relations).
- Provide guidance and support to management and staff on employee relations issues, assisting in disciplinary actions and terminations to mitigate potential liabilities and improve processes. Ensure uniform application of company policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the human element is considered in business decisions, understanding the implications for the workforce and proactively managing the impact of such decisions.
- Investigate and resolve employee relations matters, including harassment and discrimination claims, while managing disciplinary actions and ensuring equitable policy enforcement.
- Manage local payroll functions, including leadership training, system access, and coordination with the Payroll center of excellence for issue resolution.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of employee benefits, including health and welfare, pension plans, holiday and PTO pay, and salary continuation policies.
- Conduct open enrollment processes as required by the Benefits center of excellence.
- Stay informed about external benefits, unemployment insurance, and state disability insurance.
- Oversee site HRIS programs related to leaves of absence, terminations, and resignations utilizing Success Factors.
- Ensure compliance with COBRA, FMLA, CFRA, ADA, and Pregnancy leave acts, along with adherence to local, state, and federal regulations regarding wage and hour laws, EEO/AA, and ICE.
- Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned by the Human Resources Director.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred (advanced certifications in Human Resources Management are also valued).
- SPHR Certification is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Human Resources Manager in a manufacturing setting.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively to both employees and management.
- Experience with HRIS and Payroll software applications and operations.
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet critical deadlines.
- Willingness to travel, with expectations of less than 25% within North America.
