Electrical Controls Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Controls Technician to join our team at Viskase Companies Inc. As a key member of our manufacturing and facilities maintenance teams, you will be responsible for supporting programming, troubleshooting, calibration, project implementation, and network integration of industrial control systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Read and understand electrical wiring diagrams
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain processes at an industrial level
- Design, program, repair, and maintain programmable logic controller (PLC) systems
- Effectively maintain programming, hardware networking, and communication; troubleshoot, determine causes of failure, and perform corrective actions
- Assist on full industrial control system project implementation on both hardware and software problems
- Diagnose and correct PLC programming problems to minimize downtime
- Diagnose, repair, and/or replace electrical components of machines, including motors, relays, overloads, cables, switches, sensors, and variable speed drives
- Calibrate instrumentation equipment, including control panels, process control valves, and pneumatic control systems
- Interface with and troubleshoot motor control equipment, including motor starters, run relays, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Servo motors and controls, Device net, and Control net
- Interface with and troubleshoot PLCs, including connecting to the PLC, reading ladder logic, PLC programming, diagnosing hardware and software problems
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Satisfactory completion of an apprenticeship program and/or several years as a journeyman electrician
- Experience with and thorough understanding of PLC programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining
- Experience designing, programming, repairing, and maintaining PLC systems
- Knowledge of Siemens' Step 7 or Allen Bradley PLCs is a significant plus
