About the Role

Catalyst Kids is seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team as a Preschool Associate Teacher. As a key member of our teaching staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the planning and implementation of our programming for children aged infant to school age.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development: Create and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum that is supported by learning foundations and promotes positive child development.
  • Learning Environments: Create, implement, and maintain intentional, enriched, and supportive learning environments that are age-appropriate for all children.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by establishing authentic connections and reciprocal, culturally responsive relationships with children, families, schools, and communities.
  • Child Safety and Health: Ensure the health and safety of children by providing proper supervision, positive interactions, healthy habits, and excellent compliance.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with fellow staff to provide the highest quality programs and creative workplaces.

  • Positive Interactions: Maintain positive interactions with children and youth.
  • Emotional and Physical Safety: Maintain kind, respectful, and safe emotional and physical environments for children.
  • Reliability and Attendance: Be on time and present on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Physical Demands: Be physically and mentally capable of interacting with children up to 13 years of age, meeting all their needs, and ensuring their safety.
  • Safety Guidelines: Be aware of and implement safety guidelines, report any health and safety issues or incidents to management, and remain calm in emergency situations.
Physical and Environmental Conditions

As a Preschool Associate Teacher, you will be responsible for various program elements on a daily basis and will be exposed to indoor and outdoor elements. You may be required to:

  • Environmental Safety: Visually inspect the environment for hazards to children, identify hazards, and implement preventative actions to maintain a safe environment for children.
  • Loud Noise: Be comfortable with occasional loud noise in outdoor areas during activities.
  • Physical Demands: Be comfortable with frequent bending, lifting, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Object Handling: Push, lift, carry, and hold various objects up to 15 lbs. by individual or team effort.
  • Weather Conditions: Work inside the classroom or outside in all weather conditions that are safe for children.
  • Terrain and Heights: Traverse various terrains and heights, depending on the school outdoor environment.
  • Child Adaptability: Adapt to the physical level of children for activities and problem-solving interactions.
  • Field Trips: Supervise field trips to destinations such as aquatic parks, beaches, and trampoline parks.
Qualifications and Experience

Catalyst Kids is seeking a qualified and experienced Early Childhood Educator to join our team. As a Preschool Associate Teacher, you will be responsible for the care and education of an assigned group of children/classroom. There may be more than one person designated as an Associate Teacher for each group of children.

  • Education: Education and permit requirements may vary by center needs/requirements, such as Infant, Toddler, School-Age, Title 5 or Title 22 status.
  • Associate Teacher Education/Permit Requirements: 12-24 postsecondary semester or equivalent quarter units in ECE, CD, or related field with passing grades of C- or better. OR Associate Teacher Permit or above issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • Experience and Skills: 6-12 months of experience in a group care environment where care/teaching was provided for a consistent age group is preferred. Effective problem-solving, conflict resolution, classroom management, and communication with children and families are essential skills for this role.
