At Catalyst Kids, our teaching professionals play a vital role in the design and execution of engaging programs for children of various age groups, including infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children. Our educators are responsible for facilitating a range of age-appropriate activities, nurturing children's social-emotional growth, and ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver age-appropriate curricula that align with developmental milestones and reflect children's interests, fostering positive growth.
  • Establish and maintain enriching, supportive learning environments that cater to the diverse needs of all children.
  • Provide exceptional service by building authentic, culturally responsive relationships with children, families, schools, and the community.
  • Ensure the health and safety of children through vigilant supervision, positive engagement, and adherence to health guidelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to integrate shared values and experiences, enhancing program quality and workplace creativity.
Work Environment:

All educators are expected to embody the behaviors essential for fostering successful programs, including:
  • Engaging positively with children and youth.
  • Creating and maintaining respectful, safe emotional and physical spaces for children.
  • Consistently arriving on time and being present for scheduled shifts.
  • Actively participating in both indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Being physically and mentally prepared to interact with children up to 13 years old, addressing their needs and ensuring their safety.
  • Implementing safety protocols and reporting any health and safety concerns to management, remaining composed during emergencies.
Physical & Environmental Conditions:

Educators will engage in various program activities daily and may encounter both indoor and outdoor conditions. Responsibilities may include:
  • Inspecting environments for potential hazards and taking preventive measures to ensure children's safety.
  • Being comfortable with occasional loud noises during activities.
  • Performing physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and reaching.
  • Handling objects weighing up to 15 lbs., including equipment and classroom materials.
  • Working in various weather conditions that are safe for children.
  • Adapting to different terrains and heights as required by the outdoor environment.
  • Engaging with children at their physical level during activities.
  • Supervising field trips to various recreational destinations.
Qualifications & Experience:

As a member of the teaching team, the After School Program Educator shares the responsibility for the care and education of assigned children.

Education Requirements:

Educational qualifications may vary based on program needs, including specific units for age groups.

Minimum qualifications include:
  • 12-24 postsecondary semester units in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field with satisfactory grades.
  • Possession of an Associate Teacher Permit or higher issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience & Skills:
  • Preferred experience of 6-12 months in a group care setting with a consistent age group.
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and classroom management skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management abilities, including curriculum planning and assessment documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a professional team environment.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification for adults and children is preferred.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus based on center needs.
Shift Type: Part Time

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 1pm - 6pm

Compensation: $30.02 hourly
