Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity to join Bayhealth as a Nurse Practitioner II, Specialty. As a credentialed Nurse Practitioner, you will work within a collaborative model to provide quality care and improve patient outcomes by strengthening continuity of care in all settings for patients, families, and staff in both the hospital and physician practice settings. You will have the authority to write orders and work autonomously within the scope of your professional practice.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct thorough patient examinations to determine the presence of illness, utilizing physical findings, laboratory results, and medical history to ascertain the nature and extent of illness and prescribe treatments as indicated. Provide quality care across the continuum in collaboration with physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, nursing staff, and other members of the care team.
2. Provide inpatient care, rounding on surgery patients, and providing pre, peri, and post-op services, including caring for complex surgical populations, assisting in the operating room, ordering and collecting test samples, assessing and updating patient plans of care as necessary, educating patients and families during hospital stays, and taking appropriate action when medical complications arise.
3. Develop patient care plans in coordination with multidisciplinary teams and complete reports to physicians and families.
4. Order and review laboratory and diagnostic procedures, review lab data, and document findings. Issue prescriptions to patients based on Federal and State Regulations.
5. Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, documenting medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with organizational standards in the electronic health record (EHR).
6. Participate in performance improvement processes to meet quality of care and service standards.
7. Participate in accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.

Requirements:

Education: Master's Degree in Nursing
Credential(s): Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Controlled Substances Registration, Basic Life Support, and Nurse Practitioner License relevant to the specialty assigned.
Experience: Three (3) years' experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a physician practice setting.

Preferred Requirements:

Education, Credential(s), and Experience: Five (5) years' experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a specific area of practice.
