Job Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Clinical Nurse Supervisor (CNS) guarantees and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care and oversees all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. In collaboration with other management team members, the CNS directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures, serves as a resource for staff, and exemplifies a commitment to the organization's vision, mission, and values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that enhance overall departmental performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Participating in the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, in collaboration with other management team members.
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts and other managers to foster a teamwork environment that supports improved outcomes and service.
  • Upholding a patient-first philosophy and engaging in service recovery when necessary.
  • Supporting facility efforts to enhance engagement by implementing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives.
  • Providing recommendations related to interviewing, selecting, and training new staff. Recommending and implementing courses of action, including training and development, conflict resolution, personnel policy compliance, performance evaluations, and/or disciplinary actions to ensure a competitively superior organization.
  • Assisting with staff scheduling and managing all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.
  • Supporting proper inventory control and assisting with the management of supplies and equipment.
Required Qualifications
  • Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multi-state Registered Nurse license.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • ACLS and PALS certification.
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing school. BSN preferred.
  • Two (2) years of acute care experience as an Operating Room (OR) RN.
  • Previous charge nurse/service coordinator experience.
