Job Summary

The City of Appleton, WI is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the community, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect crime, and to enforce laws and regulations.
  • Respond to emergency calls, investigate incidents, and gather evidence to solve crimes.
  • Provide assistance to the public, including emergency medical services and traffic control.
  • Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and testify in court as needed.
  • Participate in community policing initiatives to build relationships with the public and promote public safety.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to share intelligence and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing laws, regulations, and procedures to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 60 credits of post-secondary education preferred.
  • Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push heavy objects, and to work in a fast-paced environment.
