Job Overview

Coastal Carolina University is seeking qualified candidates for the Educational Technology Consultant role within the Office of Academic Technology, part of the Provost Office.

This position is responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies aimed at increasing awareness and promoting the services, events, and innovations provided by the Office of Academic Technology. The successful candidate will engage faculty, staff, and students throughout the campus community via diverse communication channels and campaigns.

This role may require occasional evening and weekend hours, as well as participation during the start of each semester and during campus closures for academic continuity.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide instructional and technical assistance to faculty and students regarding the Learning Management System (Moodle) and other necessary tools.

2. Organize and facilitate faculty training workshops on academic technologies, while also advising faculty members on designing and developing engaging online courses through the strategic use of relevant instructional technologies.

3. Act as the backup for the digital learning systems administrator.

4. Create and regularly update LibGuides, user manuals, how-to documents, videos, and other training materials, while exploring new technologies to enhance digital learning across the campus.

5. Develop and implement marketing initiatives to raise awareness and promote the services, events, and advancements offered by the Office of Academic Technology, effectively engaging the campus community through various channels.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Master's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, educational technology, information management systems, computer technology, or a related field. Experience in curriculum development to enhance the learning experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with learning management systems and other third-party tools. Experience providing help-desk support to faculty is strongly preferred. Experience in developing documentation or technical reports for both print and electronic formats is preferred. Teaching experience in higher education, K12, or professional development is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Familiarity with third-party educational technology tools, such as online proctoring, digital accessibility, and lecture capture is preferred. Experience with course development within a learning management system like Moodle. Proficiency in both Windows and Apple operating systems is recommended. A high level of expertise in desktop software environments (such as Microsoft Office Suite), web authoring tools, and other third-party software to support course management system applications is expected. Training, helpdesk, or consultative experience is required. Strong customer service skills are essential, along with a history of effective leadership and teamwork in previous roles. Ability to collaborate with colleagues across administrative and faculty/staff levels in a team-oriented environment.
