About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our team at UPMC Shadyside. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the surgical team in preparing patients for surgery, including washing, shaving, and ensuring aseptic incision sites.
  • Set up and maintain a safe and sterile environment in the operating room, including arranging sterile supplies and equipment.
  • Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures.
  • Help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
Requirements
  • CPR certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Technologist Surgery Certified (TSC) within 6 months of program completion.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
