Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at Highmark Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and maintaining a safe and efficient operating room environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in setting up the operating room with the necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring that all equipment is functioning properly and that the room is prepared for the procedure.

Utilize aseptic techniques and follow standard precautions to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.

Prepare and position patients for surgery, ensuring that they are comfortable and secure throughout the procedure.

Participate in the surgical pause to verify the correct patient and surgical site, ensuring that all necessary precautions are taken to prevent errors.

Understand and adapt to surgeon preferences and patient care variables, contributing to the development of updated preference materials.

Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts to ensure accuracy and attention to detail.

Care for and utilize resources to promote a cost-effective and efficient environment for patients.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications include a Surgical Technologist program sponsored by an entity holding nationally recognized institutional or programmatic accreditation and a surgical technologist certification from an accredited certification program.

Nationally recognized surgical technologist certification is required within 6 months of completion of the Surgical Technologist program.

Preferred qualifications include one year of Surgical Technologist experience.
