Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Investment Accountant to join our team. As an Investment Accountant, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks associated with recording, analyzing, and reconciling financial data. You will also liaise with the investment and custodian bank to facilitate the transfer of funds and resolve any issues that arise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure investment instructions are processed in a timely manner and obtain the proper approvals.
  • Perform financial analysis for the assigned limited partnership on a quarterly basis and provide summary financial information to the master custodian.
  • Process the payment of investment management fees and verify that the terms are in agreement with the investment management fee contract.
  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information by performing assigned analysis and reconciliation of assets, liabilities, income, and expenses reported by BNY Mellon.
  • Provide support in the daily operations for the investments of the pension trust fund.
  • Prepare assigned schedules and analysis for the compilation of financial information for the ACFR during the year-end process.
  • Prepare documentation for the 1099's for the calendar year and maintain the electronic file to track the amounts to report.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
  • Two (2) years of accounting experience, preferably in the financial services industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong data analysis and critical thinking skills.
  • Abilities to work independently with minimal supervision; prioritize; meet deadlines; manage multiple assignments simultaneously; resolve complex issues.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant licensure.

Work Schedule

This position has a hybrid work schedule, which means working in the office two days (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) and working remotely (Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays) three days a week. The selected candidate must be able to work in the office any day of the week as required by the manager.
