Job Summary

The Humboldt County Office of Education seeks a skilled Speech/Language Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our educational team, you will be responsible for evaluating students\u0027 speech and language abilities and providing therapeutic intervention.

Responsibilities:

* Screen students referred by school personnel to determine those in need of therapeutic intervention
* Provide comprehensive diagnostic workups, write reports, and make recommendations for IEP development
* Design, implement, and review IEPs for students, and record progress accurately and timely
* Establish and maintain comprehensive student/program files
* Provide a positive learning environment that stimulates student learning and maintenance of skills
* Support the policies and programs of the Humboldt County Office of Education
* Maintain professional competency through employer-directed inservice activities
* Cooperate in the professional evaluation process with supervisor
* Effectively communicate with staff, parents, and agencies
* Attend regular and special staff meetings

Requirements:

* Possess a valid California credential authorizing service as a Speech/Language Therapist
* Demonstrate competence in communicating effectively with children and parents, staff members, and representatives of other agencies
* Demonstrate knowledge of various school and community resources associated with special education services

Physical Demands:

* Stand, sit, and/or move about for sustained periods
* Move about in non-traditional instructional environments
* Report to multiple worksites in a given day or during the work week
* Communicate effectively in-person and via telephone and other electronic media
* Exercise physical control over students who are acting out and/or offer physical assistance to students who might be physically impaired
