About the Role:

Region V Services seeks a dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide training and support to individuals with disabilities in their homes and community locations, enhancing their competencies and helping them achieve individual goals and build relationships within the community.

This role may require working in various locations, with schedules based on individual needs that may include evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Attendance at training sessions is also required to expand knowledge and provide quality services.

About the Position:

  • Provide systematic training and customized supports based on individual needs and desired outcomes.
  • Attend team meetings to ensure training and supports align with individual needs.
  • Work with individuals, family, and team members to identify desired outcomes and participate in assessments/evaluations.
  • Develop training programs and maintain accurate data collection, records, and reports.
  • Monitor training programs to enhance personal growth and ensure individual progress.
  • Serve as a positive role model and trainer for socially enhancing behavior, personal hygiene, language, personal grooming, etc.
  • Work cooperatively with consultants, supervisors, and agency staff to meet individual needs.
  • Instruct, follow, and enforce safety precautions according to federal, state, local, and Region V Services rules.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to meet individual needs.
  • Assist individuals in meeting nutritional and dietetic needs.
  • Be certified as a Medication Aide, if required, and follow laws and regulations in medication administration.
  • Provide necessary supervision and training in various environments to increase valued social roles.
  • Assist individuals in maintaining personal appearance and hygiene.
  • Provide transportation and support to improve community access skills.
  • Attend staff meetings, training conferences, and other developmental sessions.
  • Assist individuals in managing personal funds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet Region V Services needs.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent knowledge.
  • Prefer one year experience in human services.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license or adequate means of transportation.
  • Reliable means of communication.
  • Subject to criminal history APS and CPS background check and may be subject to drug and alcohol screen.

Compensation: $15.15 - $16.24 per hour
