Supply Chain Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and assists in the development of schedules necessary for the production of client products within agreed timelines utilizing advanced computerized systems.
  • Leads a team comprising approximately 10 direct reports and around 30 indirect reports.
  • Plans material requirements and assesses machine capacities and labor hours to align with production schedules.
  • Creates production timelines based on customer demands and available inventory.
  • Reconciles current inventory with manufacturing and distribution stock to minimize discrepancies.
  • Accountable for maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Provides strategic direction for local procurement activities.
  • Monitors and ensures that all customer requirements and performance metrics are consistently met.
  • Reviews routing and Bill of Materials (BOM) for each component/product, along with inventory planning data.
  • Oversees all facets of Customer Service, Shipping, and Receiving operations.
  • Maintains a precise database of necessary customer documentation.
  • Ensures the accuracy of delivery timelines, shipping quantities, and proper tagging/labeling.
  • Facilitates accurate and timely electronic communications through Advanced Shipping Notices (ASN), Delivery Documentation Letters (DDL), SMART, and Bar Coding.
  • Participates in and supports the implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives and TS 16949 standards.
  • Generates daily, weekly, and monthly reports regarding inventory, supplier performance, delivery metrics, etc.
  • Regularly attends Production and Engineering meetings.
  • Provides training and onboarding for new team members within the department.
  • Maintains positive employee relations and addresses issues promptly, seeking guidance when necessary.
  • Keeps a record of all premium freight charges, late/early deliveries, and over/under receipts, reporting on these monthly.
  • Conducts Layered Process Audits as required.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Production/Inventory Control within the welding, machining, or metal stamping sectors of the automotive industry.
  • Experience with German OEMs, particularly BMW and/or Volkswagen, is preferred, along with familiarity with Asian OEMs.
  • Experience managing teams of 30-50 personnel, both salaried and hourly.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, including VLOOKUPS, Macros, and Pivot Tables.
  • Must possess experience with SAP systems.
  • Willingness and capability to function as an "Acting Manager" and engage in hands-on tasks.
  • Experience in a large manufacturing facility, approximately 120,000 square feet.
  • Strong understanding of MRP and ERP material management systems.
  • Familiarity with TS 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Ability to analyze costs related to materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills to lead, coach, motivate, negotiate, and build relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Capable of managing conflict effectively when necessary.
  • Current roles such as Master Scheduler or Scheduling Manager will also be considered.

Education:

  • Degree from a College or University.
