Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accounting Professional to join our team at Mercyhealth. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for leading financial close processes, budgeting, and audit cycles for assigned areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead financial close process, budgeting, and audit cycle for assigned areas.
  • Take a lead role in understanding finance system structure and lead upgrades.
  • Prepare complex financial reviews and reconciliations using standard and ad hoc reporting tools to analyze source data.
  • Take a lead role in finance strategic planning process (5-year forecast).
  • Work with other departmental staff and departmental managers to prepare budget for multiple entities and respond to questions from managers.
  • Analyze data to complete regulatory reporting for assigned areas.
  • Analyze complex financial processes and recommend opportunities to improve system financial performance.
  • Assume leadership role to complete projects in the finance department.
  • Coordinate department workload of staff and associate accountants.

Requirements
  • BA in Accounting or Master's degree in related field.
  • Ten years relative experience, two of which have been in healthcare.
  • CPA designation a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to think independently desired, but could be developed on the job.
  • Mathematical skills: ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Language skills: ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and other departmental personnel.
  • Reasoning ability: ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer skills: familiarity with automated accounting systems and proficiency in Excel or other spreadsheet application. Knowledge of word processing software is helpful.
