Under the general oversight of the Department of Public Safety Sergeant and Corporal, the Security Services Officer delivers exceptional public safety support to the Augustine Band of Cahuilla Indians. This role is essential in crime prevention and safeguarding life, property, and assets through the enforcement of relevant policies, laws, and regulations on the Augustine Reservation. The Security Services Officer must effectively balance community service with the protection of the Tribe's interests and assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform stationary or patrol duties across the reservation, including Tribal enterprises and administrative offices.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and emergencies.
  • Conduct investigations and take necessary actions to exclude individuals from Tribal property for policy violations, ensuring the continuity of Tribal operations.
  • Prepare detailed reports on both criminal and non-criminal incidents.
  • Assist in medical emergencies and provide appropriate aid as needed.
  • Patrol the gaming facility to ensure the safety and security of life, property, and assets.

Requirements:

Age: Must be at least 21 years old.

Experience: A minimum of one year of current security experience and/or military or law enforcement service is required. Experience with Federally Recognized Native American Tribes is highly preferred, and experience in a casino environment is a plus.

Education: High School diploma or GED is required. Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English. Familiarity with Microsoft Office software and standard office equipment is necessary. Completion of the PC 832 course and knowledge of Public Law 280 is highly desirable.

Licenses, Certifications, and Other Qualifications:

  • California BSIS Security Guard Card.
  • Valid California Driver's License.
  • Clean Driving Record.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (preferred, not mandatory).

Gaming License Information: To be hired and remain employed with the Augustine Band of Cahuilla Indians, candidates must successfully complete a thorough background investigation to obtain a Gaming License. Certain items may adversely affect suitability for holding a gaming license. If any of the following apply, please consult Human Resources:

  • Felony conviction.
  • Theft conviction.
  • Misdemeanor conviction involving any of the following:
  • Forgery.
  • Extortion.
  • Conspiracy to defraud.
  • Gambling activities.
  • Willful failure to make required payments or filing false reports with governmental agencies.
  • Bribing or unlawfully influencing a public officer or employee.
  • Crimes involving dishonesty or moral turpitude.
  • Embezzlement.
  • Violent crime.
  • Registered sex offender status.
  • Current prosecution or pending charges related to any of the above offenses.

Moral turpitude is defined as conduct that is contrary to community standards of honesty, good morals, or justice, and a quality of dishonesty or immorality determined by a court in the commission of a criminal offense.
