Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a qualified adjunct instructor to provide instruction and coordination in the application of backflow prevention processes. The successful candidate will prepare students to work in an industrial workplace setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction and/or coordination in the application of backflow prevention processes.
  • Prepare students to work in an industrial workplace setting.
  • Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of students and industry partners.
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback to students.
  • Collaborate with industry partners to ensure that the program meets the needs of the workforce.

Requirements:

  • At least seven (7) years of practical experience in water distribution systems.
  • Must possess a backflow tester certification for at least five (5) years.
  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of backflow prevention, testing, and repairing preventers.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of instruction and engage in a positive academic environment to support students with varying academic and other supportive needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and other college stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience at the community college level.
