Job Summary:

Covenant Health is seeking a skilled Patient Care Assistant to join our team in the Pulmonary-Complex Medical Unit. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist registered nurses with patient care tasks, including taking vital signs, recording intake and output, and providing basic care such as bathing and dressing patients.
  • Encourage patients to participate in their care by promoting independence and autonomy.
  • Assist with ambulation, transfers, and positioning patients to prevent skin breakdown and promote mobility.
  • Provide nutritional support to patients, including distributing meal trays and assisting with feeding.
  • Perform various tasks to maintain a safe and clean environment, including emptying drains, canisters, and bedpans, and reporting equipment malfunctions.
  • Assist with phlebotomy, EKGs, and other procedures as needed.
  • Document patient care and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care and communication.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

Requirements:

  • CPR certification required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • No prior experience required, but willingness to learn and adapt to a fast-paced environment is essential.
