We have produced tangible results like safer streets, reduced incarceration, and improved neighborhood perceptions of justice through our community-based violence prevention programs, alternatives to incarceration, reentry initiatives, and court-based initiatives.
Our Opportunity
We are seeking a Peacemaking Program Aide to join our team at the Red Hook Community Justice Center. The successful candidate will work alongside a dedicated team to support clients and community Peacemakers through effective case management and communication.
This role offers exposure to innovative justice practices and hands-on experience in restorative justice efforts. You will contribute to a collaborative justice environment in Red Hook and develop a strong understanding of case management practices within a restorative justice framework.
Your Responsibilities
- Update and monitor the active case list on a weekly basis to ensure accurate case tracking and progress;
- Review and verify the Probation referral form for any new or updated referrals;
- Maintain and input relevant information in the JCA system based on the active case list;
- Assist in calendar management, including scheduling and coordinating virtual court dates, client appointments, and other relevant meetings;
- Serve as a point of contact for clients and Peacemakers, providing clear communication and timely responses to ensure efficient scheduling;
- Make follow-up calls to former Peacemaking clients to gather feedback and support for continued engagement with the program;
- Conduct weekly check-ins with department staff to align on case updates, scheduling needs, and any emerging issues requiring intervention.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent;
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suites;
- Experience with case management software is a plus;
- Candidates should be able to work with people from diverse backgrounds in a culturally responsive and compassionate manner.
