About the Diesel Mechanic Position

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at First Student. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing our school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle and equipment issues, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions
  • Ensure work orders are completed accurately and efficiently
  • Assist with mobile emergency services as needed
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license required; willingness to obtain CDL while employed
  • At least 3 or more years of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education
  • Possess a mechanic's tool set
  • Willingness to participate in ASE certification program; training, testing, and bonuses provided
What We Offer:
  • $24 - $32 per hour based on experience and qualifications
  • $3,000 Sign on Bonus (conditions apply)
  • Additional $.25 per hour for each ASE certification
  • Company-paid ASE testing and training materials
  • Monday-Friday, 9 am - 5:30 pm, full-time shift schedule and consistent, year-round work
