Position Overview

Terrelonge Staffing is in search of a meticulous and committed Collateral Specialist to support a distinguished mortgage client. This pivotal role involves the thorough examination and management of finalized loan packages and collateral documentation. The selected candidate will be tasked with imaging and preparing collateral for submission to designated Warehouse Banks, ensuring strict adherence to their protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Extract essential collateral documents, such as original notes, deed/mortgage copies, trust agreements, power of attorney documents, legal descriptions, title work, and closing disclosures, ensuring timely shipment to warehouse banks.
  • Effectively manage the daily dispatch of collateral to various warehouse banks.
  • Provide clear directives to warehouse banks for the transfer of received collateral to investors as loans are allocated.
  • Proactively address and resolve any discrepancies with warehouse banks to ensure that collateral is received and processed promptly for investors.
  • Review daily reports on outstanding notes not received; initiate contact with settlement/escrow agents to secure documents within designated timeframes to meet warehouse processing times.
  • Conduct a comprehensive review of critical collateral documents (e.g., original note, allonge, deed/mortgage copies, trust agreements) for precision prior to loan purchases in the Correspondent Channel.
  • Condition and verify collateral documents for the Correspondent Channel, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Assist Correspondent Clients with any collateral-related inquiries, maintaining high standards of customer service.
  • Stay informed about policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements pertaining to documents and warehouse banks.
  • Maintain expertise in residential mortgage documents and their processing.
  • Collaborate closely with the Shipping and Post-Closing departments to ensure efficient operations.
  • Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in mortgage processing, particularly in collateral document review and management.
  • Strong knowledge of residential mortgage documents and the loan closing process.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality in all work processes.
  • Proficient in mortgage-related software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
