Salary and Compensation

The estimated annual salary for this position is $104,000 - $114,400, paid semi-monthly on an eight-hour per day, forty-hour per week basis. This compensation range takes into account factors such as candidate experience and expertise, geographic location, and current market data.

Key Responsibilities

As a Surgical Pathology Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing gross examination, sampling, and dictation of human organs under the supervision of a pathologist.
  • Providing assistance during intraoperative consultations, including frozen sections and gross examinations.
  • Preparing, describing, dictating, and dissecting human tissue.
  • Ensuring proper specimen accessioning and obtaining tissue for studies as needed.
  • Photographing pertinent gross specimens and assisting with frozen section tissue selection and preparation.
Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences or a related field.
  • Successful completion of an NAACLS-accredited pathologists' assistant program.
  • Current certification from the American Association of Pathologists' Assistants or the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
  • Basic knowledge of human anatomy, macro-surgical techniques, and general laboratory skills.
