Job Summary

The Substance Abuse Counselor will provide direct supervision and case management services for participants, ensuring a comprehensive and supportive environment for their recovery. This includes facilitating psycho-educational groups, documenting client participation, and maintaining accurate records in our Netsmart PCNX computer system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide initial orientation and intake services for new participants, ensuring a thorough understanding of program requirements and expectations.
  • Facilitate a variety of psycho-educational groups, promoting participant engagement and progress.
  • Document client participation and progress in participant files and Netsmart PCNX.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure adherence to safety and security measures.
  • Assist with file and data entry reconciliation in preparation for audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Wellness Center Program Manager, Clinical Director, and Facility Director.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, with one year of experience in medical and/or psychiatric models a plus.
  • Certification/registration as an Addiction Treatment Counselor by a state-approved organization required.
  • Current TB test and CPR/First Aid certification required.
  • Knowledge of HMIS preferred.
  • Class B Driver License preferred.
  • Clean MVR and ability to drive and transport clients.
Working Conditions

The Substance Abuse Counselor will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, requiring strong time management skills and the ability to carry out assignments independently. The position involves sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, and twisting on an intermittent or continuous basis. The ability to lift up to 25 lbs is also required.
